To kill zombies, you need the right bike

IN “Resident Evil: Extinction,” the third and latest installment of the “Resident Evil” video game turned sci-fi movie franchise, Milla Jovovich is hell on two wheels. That is to say, in a post-apocalyptic world decimated by a lethal T-virus that has turned most of the population into homicidal, ultra-infectious zombies, she wanders the western United States astride a souped-up super bike looking for survivors, blasting any undead interlopers to smithereens and fighting against the evil corporation responsible for the virus.

Of course not just any souped-up super bike has the performance specs to enable zombie elimination duty. So filmmakers chose a BMW Motorrad K1200R, a mean 163-horsepower “naked roadster” -- a muscular machine the Bavarian cycle maker bills as “the ultimate hooligan bike.”

“She looks hot on it,” confirmed Marc Weinstock, executive vice president of Screen Gems, “Extinction’s” distributor.

A replica, one of two that were custom air-brushed by artist Georg Huber, will be unveiled at Comic-Con today. It then travels to Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas for the film’s Sept. 20 premiere and a giveaway promotion.
