RESULTS
* St. Louis 4, at Cincinnati 2: Juan Encarnacion’s tiebreaking single in the eighth inning helped give Troy Percival a triumphant return to the major leagues. The 37-year-old Percival won the first time since April 22, 2005, after he pitched a perfect seventh inning.
* at Chicago 6, Milwaukee 5: Aramis Ramirez hit a two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Brewers, who took a 5-0 lead in the first inning, had a 5-3 lead going into the ninth.
* New York 6-5, at Philadelphia 5-2: Carlos Beltran homered twice and John Maine dominated the Phillies again, helping the Mets complete a sweep of a day-night doubleheader. Maine (9-4) improved to 4-0 with a 2.13 ERA in six starts against Philadelphia.
* Atlanta 12, at Florida 3: The Braves scored four runs in the fifth inning to break the game open. With two runners on base, Scott Thorman hit an RBI double. Dan Uggla bobbled the relay throw from right, allowing a second run to score. Pitcher Chuck James singled to right to drive in another run. Chipper Jones also singled a run to make the score 6-0.
* at Pittsburgh 3, Washington 2: Jose Bautista’s second sacrifice fly of the game drove in the winning run in the ninth inning. The Nationals led, 2-0, in the seventh, but have been limited to five runs while losing four in a row.
* at Houston 9, Colorado 8: Mark Loretta hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning. It was the second night in a row the Astros hit a walk-off homer off Rockies closer Brian Fuentes. With two out, Fuentes walked Carlos Lee, who hit a grand slam in the 11th off him on Thursday night. Loretta then homered.
* Arizona 4, at San Francisco 3 (10 innings): Miguel Montero hit a solo homer off Brad Hennessey in the 10th inning. Jose Valverde finished for his 26th save in 29 chances. He got Barry Bonds to ground out to first to end it. Bonds led off the eighth inning with his 750th home run to tie the score at 3-3.
* San Diego 7, at Dodgers 6: Trevor Hoffman got Luis Gonzalez to pop out with the tying run on second for his 22nd save in 24 chances.
