Arizona works overtime and wins

So when he says Ivan Radenovic might have played the best game he has ever seen, it’s worth taking notice.

Radenovic scored six of his career-high 37 points in the final two minutes of overtime Saturday to help the Wildcats survive after blowing a 20-point lead and hold on for an 85-80 victory over Stanford at Palo Alto.

“Radenovic probably played as good a game as we’ve had out of anyone for ... forever,” Olson said.

“Look at his defense, his rebounds, his shooting, his assists. I don’t know if you can have a better line than he did.”

Radenovic made 12 of 16 shots, including both of his three-point attempts, all 11 of his free throws, had nine rebounds and seven assists. All without committing a foul or a turnover in 44 minutes.

Kenny Brown’s three-point basket with 6.1 seconds remaining capped a comeback from 20 points down for Stanford (18-11, 10-8 Pac-10). But the Wildcats (20-9, 11-7) scored the first four points of the extra period to regain the momentum.

The Cardinal never led in overtime. Its best chance came when Brook Lopez made only one of two free throws with Stanford trailing by one with 1:53 left.

Radenovic answered with a basket to give the Wildcats an 80-78 lead. He made four free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.

“I wanted the game in my hands,” he said. “That’s why I was calling for the ball. I didn’t want anyone else to get into trouble. If someone was going to get in trouble and lose the game, I wanted it to be me.”

Radenovic made sure that didn’t happen and assured Arizona of its 20th consecutive 20-win season, the longest active streak in the country.

Arizona State 42, California 41 -- Derek Glasser made a three-point basket with 13.8 seconds left to give the Sun Devils their first road victory.

Arizona State (8-21, 2-16) had lost 17 of its last 18 games. The point total was the lowest for the Sun Devils since Nov. 27, 1991, in a 69-37 loss to Minnesota.

California (14-16, 6-12) worked for a last shot, but Theo Robertson’s three-point attempt was short.

The 41 points was the Golden Bears’ lowest total since a 59-37 loss to Washington State on Jan. 14, 1988.

No. 17 Oregon 70, Oregon State 49 -- The Ducks (23-7, 11-7) won their final three games of the regular season and have won 14 in a row against the Beavers (11-20, 3-15) at McArthur Court.

Tajuan Porter, Oregon’s third-leading scorer this season and top three-point shooter, was held scoreless until he made a fast-break layup with 7:39 to go.

His only three-point basket gave the Ducks a 64-44 lead with 4:23 to play and tied former UCLA standout Jason Kapono’s conference freshman record for three-point baskets in a season with 82.
