The Police Protective League on Monday increased its estimate of the number of specialized officers working gang, narcotics and other units who it expects will seek transfers or retire if the city pushes a proposal requiring them to disclose their personal finances.

There are 600 specialized officers who may be asked to disclose their finances as a result of a federal consent decree, and police union officials said at least 500 of them “are expected to request transfers or retire rather than submitting to the draconian financial disclosure requirements.”
