Rookie Stastny sets mark in loss
Brent Burns scored off a rebound with 18.9 seconds left in overtime Sunday to lift the Minnesota Wild to a 3-2 victory over the visiting Colorado Avalanche.
Avalanche forward Paul Stastny assisted on a first-period goal, giving him a point in 18 straight games and setting the NHL record for the longest points streak by a rookie. He broke the mark of 17 set by Winnipeg’s Teemu Selanne in 1993.
Jaromir Jagr scored in the shootout of the host New York Rangers’ 2-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes.... Marco Sturm had two goals to help the Boston Bruins beat the host Detroit Red Wings, 6-3.... Evgeni Nabokov made 22 saves in his third shutout in four games, and the San Jose Sharks beat the visiting Edmonton Oilers, 3-0.
