Goodbye, Ruby

Re “L.A. Zoo to retire elephant to animal sanctuary,” March 12

I am 12 years old, and I’m so happy the zoo is going to retire Ruby to a place where she can move around, go swimming and play with other elephants. I love elephants, but that doesn’t mean that I think they should be in zoos and circuses just so I can see them. They are so smart, and they don’t want to be in a cage anymore than a person does.
