Unidentified Palestinian gunmen attacked a U.N. relief convoy in a botched kidnapping attempt near Gaza City, officials said.

A car blocked a convoy carrying U.N. Relief and Works Agency operations chief John Ging and attempted to force him out of his armored vehicle, an agency spokeswoman said. Then the gunmen shot up the car, but no one was hurt, she said.
