It may be Fashion Week, but the real trendsetters were at Dub magazine’s annual car and concert show Sunday at the L.A. Convention Center. From hip-hop starlet Vida Guerra sporting a see-through canary yellow Marciano dress to b-boys wearing brightly colored sneakers to match their jackets, the culture’s come a long way from saggy baggies. And the shine was everywhere. The bling was blinding -- including the $2-million diamond-and-ruby Asanti rims, as well as the rhinestone belt buckles teen boys were wearing. The show attracted the likes of Gwen Stefani, Dale Earnhardt, Smush Parker, Will.i.am and Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas, Tyson Beckford, Tyrese, Matt Leinart and Ludacris (who performed). And the reason 40,000 people were chilling, despite long lines for food, is that the event stopped serving alcohol three years ago. “It’s the first time we sold out the L.A. Convention Center and there wasn’t one fight,” says Dub co-founder Herman Flores. “We took away the alcohol and that calmed down the testosterone.” Now, it’s a family affair -- Ice T and Snoop Dogg blew in calls to Flores to make sure their kids were on the list.
