Henrik Stenson made seven birdies on his way to a five-under-par 67 on Thursday to share the first-round lead with Robert Allenby in the CA Championship at Miami.

Fifteen players in the 73-man field broke par.

Tiger Woods was one of them, but barely with a 71.

Coming off a 43 on the back nine at Bay Hill for a surprisingly sloppy finish, Woods -- the two-time defending champion at Doral and of this World Golf Championships event -- hit the ball as well he could have expected, only to have his putter let him down. He took 32 putts as the frustration mounted.

Charles Howell III had a three-under 69 and was the only American among the top six on the leaderboard.

Catriona Matthew, who gave birth to a daughter three months ago, shot a four-under 68 for a share of the lead with Young Jo in the suspended first round of the Safeway International at Superstition Mountain, Ariz.

Lorena Ochoa and Mi Hyun Kim were a stroke behind and Beth Bader and Gloria Park were two strokes off the lead.

Brendan Pappas shot an 11-under 60 in the first round of the Louisiana Open, a Nationwide Tour event in Broussard, La.

Michelle Wie won’t play in next week’s Kraft Nabisco Championship at Mission Hills because the wrist she injured last month isn’t fully healed.

Wie, 17, tied for third last year at the Kraft and was one shot out of a playoff won by Karrie Webb.
