5 to be tried in deadly mine blast
From Times Wire Reports
Five senior employees of the Grupo Mexico mining company were ordered to face trial on manslaughter charges in a coal mine explosion that killed 65 men last year in the northern state of Coahuila.
Only two bodies have been recovered from the Feb. 19 blast at the Pasta de Conchos mine.
Prosecutors say that the employees allowed a deadly mix of methane, heat and oxygen to build up in the mine and that they failed to build proper ventilation shafts.
