NO. 18 AUBURN (7-3) AT NO. 10 GEORGIA (7-2)

Share via

* Kickoff: Saturday 12:30 p.m. PST.

* TV: Channel 2.

* Line: Georgia by 2.

* Auburn update: The Tigers have won six of their last seven games and trail Louisiana State by a game in the SEC West Division standings. They are fifth in the nation in scoring defense at 14.5 points a game and have given up only 20 points in their last four victories and six points in the last two games. They are particularly tough against the pass, giving up only 179 yards a game through the air and are eighth in the nation in total defense at 293.8 yards a game.

* Georgia update: The Bulldogs are on a three-game win streak and hold a half-game lead over Tennessee in the SEC East. Knowshon Moreno is averaging 180.3 yards rushing a game over the last three, increasing his season average to 111.4 and joining Herschel Walker as the only Georgia freshmen to go over 1,000 yards. The Bulldogs are scoring 31.8 points a game.

* Story line: Both teams are holding on to hopes of going to the SEC championship game, but the loser of this game will probably be knocked out because Georgia loses a tiebreaker with Tennessee and Auburn loses a tiebreaker to LSU.

* The pick: Auburn. The Tigers have won road games at Florida and Arkansas and played tough at Louisiana State, so they won’t be intimidated by going “between the hedges.”
