Amy Adams, decked out in an ethereal gown fit for a fairy tale, was the belle of the ball at the premiere of “Enchanted” Nov. 17. Just don’t tell that to Beauty, who stepped out of a limo with Beast, before the legendary couple walked down the red carpet at the Disney affair. 1. Patrick Dempsey enjoyed (soda) shop talk with leading lady Adams before hitting the after-party, where the ballroom set from the film was re-created in a tent behind the El Capitan Theatre. 2. Teri Hatcher took her aspiring princess, Emerson, for a spin.

‘History’ partyshows its class

After “The History Boys’ ” premiere at the Ahmanson Theatre on Nov. 14, the cast headed to the downtown Farmers and Merchants Bank building. But there was no after-hours cashing of checks at the abandoned office. Instead, they sidled up to teller windows to pick up drinks before getting on the dance floor. 7. Matthew Rhys and a hirsute Tim Curry checked out the scene; close-cropped 8. T.R. Knight gave cast member Peter Paige the giggles. Boys’ night out continued at the after-after party at IHOP.

Thankfully, the performers didn’t need scripts -- or sight, apparently, in the case of a shaded 3. Mary J. Blige -- to entertain the crowd at the Nokia Theatre. A hip-shaking 4. Celine Dion belted out “Taking Chances,” although the Canadian, who once wore a backward suit to an award show, played it safe in the wardrobe department. 5. Alicia Keys, on the other hand, rocked out in a onesie for her R&B; performance, although her hands clearly thought she was doing jazz. Favorite pop-rock female artist 6. Fergie needed only a pointer finger (and a wrist full of bling) to kick off the show with a bang.
