Not using Realtor is a risky strategy
Regarding “Don’t be afraid to sell home alone,” Sept. 16: The headline on latimes.com was quite right when it said, “Selling a home without an agent comes with risks, rewards.” In fact, I would go one step further and say that selling a home without a Realtor, even though you may have used a real estate agent, comes with risks.
Zillow.com itself has stated that its service is not a substitute for the services offered by Realtors but is a tool to assist the real estate industry and the market.
I go back to what Times staff writer Annette Haddad said in the article: “That said, do-it-yourself home selling is not for everyone. Homeowners should consider whether they have the time and energy to handle calls and visits from potential buyers, make up fliers and put up signs. And they must decide whether they have the funds to pay for ads in newspapers and online.”
