MYSTERY SOLVED
Talk about random connections.
London-based artist Martin Firrell’s Web project www.completehero.com, a meditation on heroes and heroism, owes a great deal to an old Joss Whedon television series.
Fans of the short-lived “Firefly” have embarked on a guerrilla marketing campaign on Firrell’s behalf because some of his site’s videos feature Nathan Fillion -- the former “Firefly” star. The videos are part of a larger public art project in which Firrell examines the word “hero” -- asking why heroes are “usually male, white and violent.”
Denise Gary, 49, a sales rep from San Antonio, heard about Fillion’s involvement, spread the word to 30 fellow Fillion fans, and the results are in e-mail in-boxes everywhere.
