* No. 6 West Virginia 31, at Rutgers 3: Steve Slaton ran for three touchdowns, Pat White rushed for 156 yards and a score, and the Mountaineers (7-1, 2-1) kept their Bowl Championship Series hopes alive by burying the Scarlet Knights (5-3, 2-2) at Piscataway, N.J. It was Rutgers’ worst loss since a 56-5 drubbing by Louisville on Nov. 11, 2005. The three points were its lowest total since a 42-0 loss to Notre Dame in 2002.

* at Louisville 24, Pittsburgh 17: Brian Brohm threw for 236 yards and two touchdowns, and the Cardinals (5-4, 2-2) needed a late goal-line stand to hold off the Panthers (3-5, 1-2) at Louisville, Ky. Pittsburgh drove to the Louisville one in the closing minute, but linebacker Lamar Myles jarred the ball loose from LeSean McCoy and the Cardinals’ Rod Council recovered. Three straight runs by Brohm ran out the clock.
