* at No. 4 Texas 21, Arkansas State 13: Colt McCoy threw two first-quarter touchdown passes, but the Longhorns stumbled through a sloppy victory at Austin. Brandon Foster recovered an onside kick with less than a minute to play to secure the win for Texas.

* at No. 8 Oklahoma 79, North Texas 10: Freshman DeMarco Murray became the first Oklahoma player to score five touchdowns in his debut, and redshirt freshman Sam Bradford threw for 363 yards and three touchdowns at Norman. It was Oklahoma’s second-highest point total since 1919.

* at No. 20 Nebraska 52, Nevada 10: Marlon Lucky rushed for a career-high 233 yards and three touchdowns and caught a pass for another score to lead the Cornhuskers at Lincoln.
