Acer says Gateway accepts its offer

Acer Inc. said Gateway Inc.’s board accepted its acquisition offer.

Gateway’s directors unanimously agreed on the offer, Taipei-based Acer said. Acer, which offered to buy the Irvine-based computer maker for about $710 million, said it signed a definitive agreement Aug. 27.

Separately, Gateway said it agreed to sell its corporate business unit to MPC Corp. for about $90 million.
