* at Detroit 12, Seattle 6: Brandon Inge hit a tiebreaking homer in the sixth inning, and Ivan Rodriguez went four for five with a home run in the eighth to lead the Tigers, who put together a four-game winning streak for the first time since July.

* at Baltimore 11, Boston 5: Rookie Scott Moore hit a grand slam to cap a seven-run third against Red Sox starter Daisuke Matsuzaka, and the Orioles ended a record 11-game home losing streak.

* at Texas 7, Oakland 3: Hank Blalock homered and drove in three runs for the Rangers, who won despite rookie starter Luis Mendoza being removed from his major league debut after two innings after being struck on his left knee. Left-hander Kason Gabbard didn’t start because of a blister on his left thumb.

* New York 11, at Kansas City 5: Alex Rodriguez, who got his 50th and 51st home runs, just missed homering in three consecutive at-bats, flying out to the center field wall in his second at-bat during the Yankees’ seven-run sixth inning. Derek Jeter left the game in the bottom of the fifth inning because of right knee stiffness. Jeter will get a day off today and might not play much on artificial turf in a three-game series in Toronto that starts on Tuesday, Manager Joe Torre said.

* at Chicago 8, Minnesota 7: Jim Thome hit his 497th homer and drove in the go-ahead run with a single in the seventh inning to lead the White Sox. Twins backup catcher Jose Morales, who was making his first major league start, left the game after injuring his ankle in the fifth inning.

* at Tampa Bay 5, Toronto 4: B.J. Upton’s pinch-hit two-run homer capped Tampa Bay’s four-run rally in the ninth inning.

* Cleveland 6, at Angels 1: The Indians’ C.C. Sabathia tied for the major league lead with his 17th win.
