* at No. 3 West Virginia 48, Marshall 23: Pat White threw two touchdown passes and ran for another, Steve Slaton rushed for two scores and the Mountaineers (2-0) used a 42-point second half to defeat the Thundering Herd (0-2) at Huntington. Held to three first downs and 118 total yards in the opening half, West Virginia scored on its first three possessions of the third quarter and handed Marshall its worst home loss since it opened Joan C. Edwards Stadium opened in 1991.

* at Pittsburgh 34, Grambling State 10: LeSean McCoy ran for three touchdowns in his first four carries and Kevan Smith threw for 202 yards and a score in his first career start to lead the Panthers (2-0) over the Tigers (1-1).

* at Connecticut 38, Maine 0: Tyler Lorenzen threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as the Huskies (2-0) beat the Black Bears (1-1) at East Hartford.
