A 31-year-old man was shot to death in a possible gang-related attack as he was walking on a street in East Los Angeles, authorities said Wednesday.

Marco Corona was shot shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 3800 block of Hammel Street near North Gage Avenue, said Deputy Oscar Butao, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Corona was walking west on Hammel when an alleged gang member approached on foot, pulled a gun and fired, wounding Corona, Butao said.

The suspect then fled east, Butao said. Corona died at the scene, he said. Butao said it was unclear whether Corona was affiliated with a gang. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
