Charter reports narrower loss

Charter Communications Inc., a St. Louis-based cable television company controlled by Paul Allen, reported a narrower second-quarter loss after adding telephone and high-speed Internet customers.
The loss shrank to $276 million, or 74 cents a share, from $360 million, or 98 cents, a year earlier, Charter said. Sales increased 8.3% to $1.62 billion.
Charter shares dropped 5 cents, or 4.4%, to $1.09.
