Obama’s flaw
Re “Obama’s best strategy? Attack,” Opinion, July 31
Jonathan Chait’s spot-on article gives voice to what I have been saying for a month. For all the supposed brilliance of Barack Obama’s campaign, he is proving woefully inept at attacking John McCain. Obama took golden opportunities -- like McCain advisor Phil Gramm’s comments about a nation of whiners -- and did nothing with them. Obama’s milquetoast brushoffs of McCain’s attacks are infuriating to watch.
Obama is taking the usual Democratic high road of positivity to defeat. Negativity wins elections, yet Obama only talks about himself, instead of focusing on why McCain is wrong. It is becoming convincingly evident that Obama will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
