A bomb explosion at a bank killed a police officer and a state bomb disposal technician and critically injured another officer, officials said. They have no suspects.

“That person is dangerous and needs to be found as soon as possible,” Oregon State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings said.

The explosion occurred Friday afternoon at a West Coast Bank office in Woodburn, about 30 miles south of Portland. A bank employee found the bomb in bushes outside. Officers brought it inside -- why is unclear -- and it exploded.

Woodburn police Capt. Tom Tennant and state Senior Trooper William Hakim, the bomb technician, died. Both were 51. Police Chief Scott Russell, 46, was hospitalized in critical condition.
