Lava flows again toward subdivision
From Times Wire Reports
Lava from Kilauea Volcano crept toward a largely abandoned subdivision on the Big Island that was nearly wiped away by an eruption that began 25 years ago.
The lava flow was about a mile from the upper reaches of Royal Gardens, posing an immediate threat to the subdivision, according to the U.S. Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.
A fire department helicopter was sent to warn any remaining residents of the flow, he said.
