Adopt-a-Highway: A Saturday article in the California section about the San Diego Minutemen cleaning a segment of Interstate 5 as part of Caltrans’ Adopt-A-Highway program listed organizations that had adopted roads, then said, “Now add the San Diego Minutemen.” That passage may have implied that the San Diego chapter was the first Minutemen organization to adopt a highway in California. The Campo Minutemen adopted Buckman Springs Highway in Campo, near the border in San Diego County, more than a year ago.
