UNDERRATED / OVERRATED
THE FLYAWAY SHUTTLE
It leaves Union Station every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour, gets you to LAX in 45 minutes (sometimes less), and only costs $4 for adults, $2 for kids aged 2 to 12 and $0 for children younger than 2. Plus: For an extra five bucks, you can do remote passenger and baggage check-in (up to 2 bags per person). Use the time and money you’ve saved to grab drinks at the recently reopened Encounter bar.
OSCAR CLIP MONTAGES
Gets us teary every time. Seriously. Can we just have those if there’s no Academy Awards?
DJ LEE
Not only does he run Dionysus Records, one of the most underrated independent record labels in L.A., but his weekly “London Calling” Wednesday night at the Bigfoot Lodge -- which also features $3 pints of Guinness and Newcastle -- is a consistent delight for fans of Brit-pop from the ‘60s to now.
CAPER BERRIES
Delightfully salty, tangy and chewy, the pickled flower of the caper bush is kind of like an olive filled with magical treats.

STARS GETTING OUT OF JAIL
After serving 48 days for drunk driving, Kiefer Sutherland was released from the Glendale City Jail on Monday to, as one headline put it, “no fanfare.” And thus the media (OK, this paper) makes fanfare out of a lack of fanfare.
RUNNING CYCLISTS OFF THE ROAD
Tailgaiters, honkers, crazed refugees from the 10 Freeway. Direct your road rage at the real problems.
EL COYOTE
In a town filled with amazing Mexican restaurants, why is the worst one packed like a sardine can every night? The place can’t even make a decent margarita (isn’t that some kind of a crime?). Patrons get all the conveyor-belt flavor normally found at a chain restaurant in a megamall, without the added convenience of an Apple store or Macy’s nearby.
CAPERS
Salty, sour and underwhelming, the pickled bud of the caper bush has been used to death by lazy and unimaginative cooks.
