Baring the facts
Re “A modest proposal for San Onofre,” July 5
Thank you for reporting the goings-on at the very south end of San Onofre State Beach.
But the story doesn’t tell the whole truth. Aberrant behavior is actually almost nonexistent there. And, I might add, the clothing-optional section of the beach, even though we get no support services from the lifeguards or cleanup crews, is one of the safest, cleanest state beaches around.
With proper signage, those whose sensibilities might be shaken would have ample warning to stay on the other parts of the beach. The long-held Cahill Policy so reasonably enacted in the late ‘70s was a step forward. Let’s not jump back.
