Police are still searching for a heavyset man who entered the unlocked homes of women, dancing for them and touching them before the women kicked him out, authorities said.

The bearded man apparently walked into an apartment in the 1700 block of Marguerite Avenue about 10 a.m. Sunday, telling the woman inside he was on a fraternity scavenger hunt in which he had to dance and eventually place his hand on her buttocks, said Newport Beach Police Sgt. Evan Sailor.

A similar incident occurred April 12 in the 700 block of Begonia Avenue in Corona del Mar, although police are not positive it was the same person.

In that incident, the dancing intruder touched one of the resident’s hands before he left.

“Neither side were physical,” Sailor said.

Rather, the women edged the man out the door in a way “that implied, ‘Hey, you’re not welcome.’ ”

The man apparently was not acquainted with the two women, Sailor said.

Police describe the suspect as white, in his 20s or 30s, about 6 foot 1 and 240 lbs., wearing a white T-shirt and jeans.

Authorities ask anyone with information about the suspect or the incidents to call Newport Beach police at 800-550-6273.
