A 26-year-old man died after a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting on the Hollywood Freeway early Saturday morning, Los Angeles police said.

Bunthan Roeung was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after he was shot in the upper back following a 2 a.m. altercation with several people on Hollywood Boulevard, said Norma Eisenman, an LAPD spokeswoman.

Roeung was a passenger in a vehicle traveling down the boulevard when he and other people with him got into a verbal disagreement with several males in a second vehicle, Eisenman said.

The men then followed the vehicle in which Roeung was riding onto the freeway and began to tailgate it, she said.

They fired a single shot into the vehicle, striking Roeung. His friends left the freeway at Lankershim Boulevard and drove to Hesby Street, where they called 911, police said. Police are searching for the gunman.
