Some runners take more time
I have a minor complaint about your otherwise excellent L.A. Marathon guide [“Run For It!”, Feb. 25]. The runners you profiled, while nicely aged, are all very fast. Each has completed a sub-four-hour marathon. Last year, only 1,657 runners out of 20,230 finished in four hours or less -- 8%!
The beauty of the L.A. Marathon is that it attracts all kinds of runners and walkers, many of whom are happy simply to finish and are ecstatic if they cross the line in the vicinity of five hours. Let’s hear from them too!
