Let owners stay in their homes

Regarding “Not on His Watch,” Feb. 17: Leaving foreclosed homes unoccupied has resulted in many serious problems. It would make a great deal of sense for the lenders to allow the former owners to continue to live in their homes and pay rent at the same rate, or even in some situations less than the introductory payments they were making, until those homes can be resold.

This would give them a place to live and avoid the various crises caused by empty homes. Allowing those who have acted responsibly to remain would be a benefit to the lenders and the neighborhoods.
