With Nick awards, goo means good
The green goo will be flowing tonight at Nickelodeon’s 21st Annual Kids’ Choice Awards.
Sort of a “mini-Oscars” in which kids vote on their favorites in film, music, sports and television, the raucous awards show always slimes the hip and the cool with cold green goo.
Jack Black returns as host of the proceedings -- let’s hope he brings several wardrobe changes for the slime attacks -- at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion. The show will telecast on a tape-delayed basis on the West Coast on Nickelodeon at 8 p.m.
“Shrek the Third” has four nominations, including favorite animated movie and three for favorite voice performance (Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy). Murphy also is nominated for favorite movie actor -- presumably not for “Norbit.” “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” picked up three nominations -- favorite movie, actor for Johnny Depp and actress for Keira Knightley. And Jerry Seinfeld’s “Bee Movie” picked up nominations for animated film and Seinfeld’s voice performance.
On the music front, Bow Wow, Chris Brown, Soulja Boy and Justin Timberlake are vying for favorite male singer, while Beyonce, Fergie, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys are in contention for favorite female singer.
Cyrus also is nominated for favorite television actress for “Hannah Montana,” along with Emma Roberts for “Unfabulous,” Jamie Lynn Spears for “Zoey 101” and Raven-Symone for “That’s So Raven.” Favorite television actor nominees are Drake Bell and Josh Peck for “Drake & Josh” and brothers Dylan and Cody Sprouse for “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.”
Among the nominees for favorite male athlete are Tony Hawk, Shaquille O’Neal and Tiger Woods. Sisters Serena and Venus Williams will duke it out for favorite female athlete.
