Aspinall’s role

I was saddened to read the obituary of my friend Neil Aspinall [“Beatles’ Friend and First Road Manager,” by Randy Lewis, March 25]. It was perplexing to see my name mentioned regarding my work on the “Beatles 1” album as illustrating anything other than Neil’s business acumen and true understanding of the Beatles.

He ran the marketing of the “1” album and I worked for him. I learned a lot from Neil Aspinall that I use every day in my work. He had the unique gift of cutting through the “Beatle clutter” and the music business clutter.
