For many, the first test of college is figuring out how to pay for it.
College applicants and their parents face a bewildering array of grant, loan and scholarship programs, each with its own application and qualification process.
Adventures in Education, a nonprofit program run by the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corp., can help guide you through the financial aid maze. The program’s website addresses common financial aid questions, includes links to federal and state programs and offers a searchable database of more than 10,000 scholarships.
The site includes a clever set of calculators designed to help students budget their time and money. It also has articles and videos aimed at helping students manage credit card debt, choose a career and find a job after graduation.
Adventures in Education is also available in Spanish at www.adventuresineducation.org/Spanish.
