Rains knock out power to 3,400 customers
City utility crews restored power Sunday afternoon to about 3,400 customers who were without electricity because of the rains.
The largest outage occurred in the Palms district, where 1,600 Department of Water and Power customers lost power at 10 a.m. The remaining outages were in scattered pockets throughout the city.
DWP spokeswoman Kim Hughes said electricity was restored in the late afternoon except for 38 customers in the San Fernando Valley, where one wire remained down. Crews were working to repair the damage as quickly as possible, Hughes added.
An outage earlier Sunday affected 800 customers in Venice but was quickly resolved.
