Two indicted in plot to kill Obama, other blacks
MEMPHIS, TENN. -- — A federal grand jury has indicted two white supremacists accused of plotting to kill Sen. Barack Obama and dozens of other black people.
Daniel Cowart, 20, and Paul Schlesselman, 18, were arrested last month and were being held without bond.
They were indicted Wednesday on charges of possessing a sawed-off shotgun, planning to rob a licensed gun dealer and threatening a presidential candidate.
Authorities say they plotted a killing spree that would end with their attacking Obama. Court records indicate their plot fell apart quickly.
Cowart’s lawyer said he had no comment. A message left for Schlesselman’s lawyer was not immediately returned.
