THE $23 DEAL
What do you give for a 23rd anniversary? China or silver may be traditional for the twentysomething anniversaries, but if you’re a certain inn in Santa Fe, N.M., you give a discount.
The deal: The Inn on the Alameda, which Frommer’s New Mexico guidebook calls a “cozy stop for those who like the services of a hotel with the intimacy of an inn,” is celebrating its 23rd anniversary by offering a third consecutive night for $23. (Ask for the anniversary special.) The offer is good until Feb. 28, although there are, predictably, blackout dates during holiday and peak periods. Other restrictions apply. But with the low third night rate, packages begin as low as $333 for two staying the three nights. Just remember that Santa Fe, while quieter during the winter, also tends to be a tad on the chilly side. The average high in January is 43 and the low is 15.
