GE oven doors pose fire danger
General Electric Co is recalling about 244,000 wall ovens under the GE, GE Profile, Monogram and Kenmore brands because of a fire and burn hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said. Some of the ovens may have their door attached incorrectly, allowing enough heat to escape during the self-cleaning cycle to pose a danger, the CPSC said. The ovens were sold at home building and appliance stores between October 2002 and December 2004. Information: (888) 569-1588, www.geappliances.com or www.cpsc.gov.
* About 365,000 dive sticks, made in China and imported by Target, are being recalled because they could remain in an upright position, posing an impalement hazard to young children. The pool toys were sold in Target stores nationwide from April through August this year. Information: (800) 440-0680, www.target.com or www.cpsc.gov.
* About 24,000 Arizona newborn and infant denim pants, manufactured in Bangladesh and imported by JCPenney Co., are being recalled because the metal snap at the waist can come off, posing a choking risk. The pants were sold at JCPenney stores and on the company’s website between July and October 2008. Information: (888) 333-6063, www.jcp.com or www.cpsc.gov.
