Big rig accident shuts 210 Freeway
A section of the 210 Freeway was closed for nearly eight hours Friday morning after a big rig overturned and spilled 39 tons of frozen chicken onto the roadway, authorities said.
The tractor-trailer collided with a car at 2:30 a.m. and then skidded into the center divider, according to the California Highway Patrol. The accident required authorities to close the carpool lane east of Indian River Boulevard on the westbound 210 Freeway until just before 10 a.m.
The driver of the car was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, but the big rig’s driver was not injured, officers said.
