Using hocus-pocus, the McCourts have attempted to deceive Dodgers fans once again. While they had us looking at Camelback Ranch, they used misdirection to make our veteran pitchers disappear off the mound and out of the bullpen, vanishing into competitors’ rosters right before our very eyes.
While we watched the re-signings of Rafael Furcal and Casey Blake, the McCourts used sleight of hand to slide the money of these departed veteran pitchers across the table to a rent-a-hitter for one season. If he has a magical season, his crystal ball and Genie Boras will advise him to disappear faster than Houdini into the American League.
Was David Copperfield hired to replace Tom Lasorda as personnel consultant?

I’m glad Gary Matthews Jr. wants to play every day. If only he had performed every day the last two seasons, he wouldn’t be riding the bench.
Just agree to restructure that bloated contract into an incentive-laden one and maybe the Angels will be able to move you, Gary. Then we can all forget about one of the most disappointing free-agent signings in franchise history.

Here in the Greater L.A. area we are fortunate to have two major league teams to follow -- “the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim” and “the Los Angeles Dodgers.”
To me, saying the words “Los Angeles” and “Angels” in the same sentence is ridiculous. If Frank McCourt had any guts, he’d rename his team, “the Anaheim Dodgers of Los Angeles.”
