New York 3, at Oakland 2: Mark Teixeira hit a two-run homer and Chad Gaudin pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings against his former club in his first start for the Yankees.
at Tampa Bay 3, Baltimore 1: Rookie Jeff Niemann gave up one run over 7 1/3 innings for his 11th win of the season, and Pat Burrell, Ben Zobrist and B.J. Upton hit solo homers.
Seattle 3, at Detroit 1: Ichiro Suzuki homered to back Ian Snell’s best start with the Mariners.
at Chicago 4, Kansas City 2: Jose Contreras won for the first time in six weeks, making a strong bid to save his job in the White Sox’s rotation.
Angels 3, at Cleveland 0: Jered Weaver pitched a seven-hitter.
