Looking ahead in the NBA

BOSTON AT ORLANDO Friday, 11:30 a.m., Ch. 7 CLEVELAND AT LAKERS Friday, 2 p.m., Ch. 7 Since ABC celebrates opening night on Dec. 25, it’s no surprise it gets the marqueest of marquee matchups. The Cavaliers have LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal, enough to get the Lakers’ attention and Kobe Bryant’s 10 times over, but it’s not as compelling as last year’s matchup with the Celtics, who humiliated the Lakers in the 2008 Finals. It turned out to be a wake-up call, the first of several, for the Lakers, who pulled it together after weeks of sloppy play and beat the Celtics, 92-83. If the Lakers are to see them next spring, the Celtics must get past Orlando, which has already won in Boston this season and is 9-6 against them, counting playoff games, since Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen got there.
