SanDisk Corp., a maker of memory cards for digital cameras, reported a loss after posting shrinking sales and writing down the value of the business.

The fourth-quarter net loss was $1.86 billion, or $8.25 a share, compared with a profit of $105.8 million, or 45 cents, in the same period a year earlier, the Milpitas, Calif., company said. Sales fell to $742.1 million.
