Your list of the best football movies ever made featured a lot of classics (“First and 10,” Feb. 1), but you left off the greatest of them all: Michael Ritchie’s 1977 comedy “Semi-Tough”.

This charming triangle about two football players (Burt Reynolds and Kris Kristofferson) and the woman they love (Jill Clayburgh) is filled with fascinating insider details about the game, and it combines romantic comedy and sports action in a manner that wouldn’t be topped until Ron Shelton made “Bull Durham” 11 years later.

How can you ignore “The Replacements,” a truly hilarious comedy featuring Jack Warden, Gene Hackman, strippers as cheerleaders, the comedy stylings of Jon Favreau, Orlando Jones and “wiry” Rhys Ifans, and the critical quarterback role of Shane Falco, played by “Point Break’s” own Johnny Utah, Keanu Reeves? An easy bet to push out “The Waterboy” or “Any Given Sunday.”

How could you have possibly missed the “The Fortune Cookie”?

The story centers on a cameraman (Jack Lemmon) who gets injured on the sidelines during a football game and lets his conniving lawyer brother-in-law (Walter Matthau) talk him into faking a much more serious injury for love and money.
