No. 3 Stanford 69, at UCLA 58: The Cardinal (23-4, 14-1 in the Pacific 10) took a 33-28 halftime lead and limited the Bruins (16-10, 7-8) to 37.7% shooting overall. “This is a big win for us,” Stanford Coach Tara VanDerveer said. “We didn’t win [in L.A.] last year, and we needed this game. They have some very talented players.”
No. 4 California 66, at USC 64: Alexis Gray-Lawson scored 22 points and made two free throws with 15 seconds left to lift the Bears (23-3, 14-1). The Trojans (14-12, 8-7) rallied from an 11-point deficit, with Heather Oliver’s three-point basket cutting Cal’s lead to 63-62 with 1:10 left. The Bears’ Ashley Walker had an off night, not scoring a field goal until there was 4:05 left in the game.
