Atlanta’s women get very ‘Real’

At last, it’s time to talk about: “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”

Say what you will about the other wives from other locales, nothing beats the swagger of the Southern ladies, most of whom have nothing to swagger about. When the new season starts on Bravo, worlds have turned upside down: Sheree, and her still-yet-to-launch clothing line, has moved into a much smaller abode, Kim has split with Big Papa and decided to become a wig maker (I kid you not), Lisa’s thinking about another baby . . . and NeNe’s still running her mouth to anyone who will listen. Please talk about: “Adam”

Fine performances from Rose Byrne (FX’s “Damages”) and Hugh Dancy elevate this small film about the relationship between a woman and a man with Asperger’s syndrome into one of summer’s sweetest reasons for pause. (Wednesday)

Or, you could also talk about: “The Cove”

So it’s not a straight documentary. Call it advocacy filmmaking, then, but don’t skip out on the story of Richard O’Barry (former “Flipper” trainer) and his often confrontational efforts to end the mass harpooning of dolphins in Taiji, Japan. Especially good for fans of Animal Planet’s “Whale Wars.” (Friday)

I still want to talk about: No Doubt

The band, along with opening act Paramore, plays Wednesday and Thursday at the Gibson Amphitheatre, but a new album isn’t due until next year. What that means is a whole lot of ska-pop nostalgia via “Just a Girl,” “Spiderwebs” and “Don’t Speak” -- works for us. (Wednesday)

This is likely the last time I’ll tell you to talk about: “Battlestar Galactica”

“Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series” is out on DVD and Blu-ray. Of course, you pre-ordered it awhile ago . . . (Tuesday)

Will anyone talk about: MTV’s “Making His Band”?

Haven’t we all lost confidence in Diddy’s ability to create a music group at this point? Da Band? Day 26? Danity Kane? Donnie Klang? Any of those ring a bell? At least the prize this time befits the fifth iteration of the show: The winners will become backup singers for Diddy. Expectations leveled. (Monday)
