For guys, this could be the scariest recall ever: The Under Armour company, which makes athletic wear, is recalling about 211,000 athletic cups -- the hard-plastic garments that are supposed to protect the tender nether regions, especially during sports play.

“The cups can break if hit,” says a U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission alert, “posing a risk of serious injury hazard to athletes.”

The company, which is recalling the products voluntarily, had received five reports of the cups breaking, including one that resulted in cuts and bruises.

Anyone who has purchased an Under Armour cup “should immediately stop using” it, said the agency (guys probably don’t need to be told that twice). That goes for cups purchased separately or as part of shorts or other athletic garments. The offending products carry the company logo. * Gap Inc. is recalling some babyGap coats because toggle fasteners that could break and detach from the coat, posing a choking hazard. The Rose Toggle Hoodie, Pink Duffle Coat and Blue Plaid and Mojave Toggle coat are included in the recall. The coats, sold in infant sizes up to 24 months, were sold at babyGap, GapKids and Gap Stores and online from October 2008 to April, for $20 to $50.
