Disposable or historic?
Re “Fight shapes up over Century Plaza,” April 28
The Century Plaza Hotel is representative of a neighborhood transformation in the 1960s from oil wells and a movie studio to a center of business, entertainment, international and celebrity activity.
This iconic structure deserves to stand. The life span of a building in Los Angeles seems to be 30 to 40 years. Let’s stop this trend toward “disposable” structures and save the neighborhood from another forgettable, high-rise look-alike.
