Update: Some team, at some point, is going to distinguish itself and take control of the conference race . . . right? The winner today stays in the running to be that team. The loser? Well, the last time the Pac-10 champion had five losses in conference play was 1984-85, when Washington and USC each finished 13-5. The Bears have a senior-heavy lineup, led by guard Jerome Randle, who averages 19 points a game and scored 29 in a 66-63 loss to USC on Thursday. California leads the conference in field-goal percentage (47%) and is second in scoring (78.0).
