The Beauty Guide To Eyebrows

The Beauty Guide To Eyebrows

Eyebrows can be a little tricky to both shape up and maintain regularly. There are different styles and shapes that suit different types of people and then there’s the actual technique involved in getting them to look the way you want. Don’t worry though, we’ll be covering both in this quick yet easy-to-follow guide so you’ll be rocking those beautiful brows in no time.

What are the different eyebrow shapes?

Over the years, people have experimented with different eyebrow shapes and sizes, and today, there are a few popular choices. Here are some that you can pull off with your own eyebrow shaping kit:

Natural Brows

By far one of the most common, natural brows are simple and lowkey because they simply follow the natural shape of your own brow. There’s no excessive plucking or waxing involved, just nurturing what you already have and adding to it to make it even better. If you love the way your eyebrows already look, this is probably the shape for you.

Straight Brows

Straight eyebrows are sleek, linear, and they give off a professional vibe from those that rock it. It’s a very simple and minimal look but unnatural enough for it to stand out. While they’re commonly known as “straight” brows, many of these types often have a small, subtle arch towards the end on the outside. This gives the brow a little extra flair and attitude to it while shaping nicely around the eye.

Rounded/Curved Brows

In a not-so-sharp contrast to straight brows, curved brows offer smoother shapes and lines, which can be great on faces with otherwise sharp and chiseled features. They can also complement rounded faces too, adding to the overall structure.

Tapered Brows

Tapered brows are really striking when seen up close, and they’re not easy to pull off. You need to know how to control your eyebrow makeup (such as with an eyebrow pencil and eyebrow gel) properly if you want to pull off a tapered brow that seamlessly transitions away from full volume.

How to manage brows

Waxing

Waxing is one of the best ways to manage and shape your brows. It gets rid of eyebrow hair from the root, leaving no traces. It’ll also take a while for the hair to grow back, and when it does, it’ll look natural too. The only real downside to waxing is the pain that we’re all too familiar with, but if you can tolerate it, then it’s a great way to keep your eyebrows in check.

Plucking

Plucking is the act of removing individual hairs from your eyebrow with a tool. This process is similar in nature to waxing, removing the hair from its roots, but it is less time-efficient. You mostly use plucking as a supplement to other methods or use it for regular maintenance, pulling out a few stray hairs here and there whenever they pop up.

Threading

A unique alternative to plucking, threading is a technique where a cotton string is rolled up against the eyebrow. The tension created from rolling the string allows you to pull out rows of eyebrow hairs at once, making it very effective when done right. However, you’ll need the skill required to be able to pull it off - otherwise, you’ll need to find a professional to do it for you.
